A WEDDING photographer ordered to pay compensation and return pictures to a newly married couple has won the right to appeal.

As reported by the Echo in February, John Paine, of Special Occasions in Ashley Cross, was ordered to pay Bianca and Chris Hanley £1,450 compensation, £260.50 legal costs and to hand over a disc containing the photos of their wedding. He was also refused the right to appeal.

However, at a personal oral hearing at Winchester County Court on April 9, a judge ordered that an appeal should be granted. Paine was hired for the pair’s wedding on June 8, 2012, and they say they never received their wedding album.

The appeal will be heard at Bournemouth County Court on September 12.

I seem to remember that we did hear his side of the story when it first broke many moons ago. Everybody was slagging him until he came up with his version of events, and they were quite plausible.

I think the wedding photographer would have had an uphill struggle trying to make them look loving and and good looking in there wedding photos. Faces like slapped ar#es. Sometimes you have just got to know when to walk away from a job! Good luck to you Mr Paine.

Personally can’t see much wrong with the original album (I’m a Graphic Designer with 17 years experience), but you can see the photographer was struggling with the second (it’d be hard to improve the original too much). In fact, it’s quite an achievement considering the contrasts caused by the ridiculous amount of fake tan!

And, before anyone makes the accusation, I have absolutely no affiliation with John Paine nor have I ever met him! Just don’t like seeing fellow creative professionals getting unreasonably screwed over!

I agree with the fake tan and that stupid headband on the baby….why !!

I have seen the design on Mr. Paines website, take a look at the bottom of special occasions website at ' completed albums '. Albums looks fab to me.
As a nosey person I took a look at all the photos he did for the couple " view your photos " at the bottom of the same website (just put in any e-mail address to login) (sorry mr. paine), 504 of them all look perfectly ok to me, they did seem to have faces like slapped wotsits though. I will be interested to hear the results of the hearing in September, there must have been a very good reason for it to go before the high court in Winchester ordering for the appeal to be granted.

I agree with comment above that the greedy couple had other ideas and have come across a photographer who is rightly standing his ground. If he is right then good luck to him for doing so.

Further to my previous post, wouldn’t it be of interest to all parties to bring in an independent assessor to judge whether Mr Paine has produced satisfactory work? Surely it wouldn’t be too difficult to contact the Royal Photographic Society, for example!

Yes, I know parkie... I put the link up earlier, and made my own comments.
My point about an independent being brought in, is for the legal side of things, i.e, proving to the judge that the photos are to an acceptable quality.
As I stated before, I think the first album is more than fine. It flows well, captures a ‘story’ of the day, and Mr Paine can only use what is presented to him after all!

Wow, they really do don't they?? Trouble is now that if the photographer puts on a wig as well, the judge won't know who's who and well never find out whats going on.
