A COLOURFUL quilt made by parents attending Springbourne Family Centre is off to Birmingham to be displayed at the Festival of Quilts.
The quilt, which features a sunrise created from the hand prints of the children and parents who participated, will be displayed in the group quilt category at Europe’s leading patchwork and quilting event, being staged at the NEC Birmingham in August.
It is the result of an 18-week project run by Hilary Guess and Leah Watts and funded by the Ashley Foundation.
Participants used mainly recycled materials to make the quilt, which was finished with felt flowers, hand embroidery, fabric beads and sequins.
