BOURNEMOUTH residents will be able to collect free compost from the council next month.

Eight tonnes of compost donated by recycling firm Eco Sustainable Solutions will be up for grabs at Slades Farm car park in Ensbury Avenue on May 3 and at Kings Park lorry park off Holdenhurst Road on May 11, between 9am and 1pm.

Residents should bring a current council tax bill, and a container up to 70 litres for the compost.

Councillor Michael Filer, cabinet member for waste, said: “It’s brilliant that we are able to give something back to all those who have helped make our fabulous and free green waste collection service so popular. I hope many green-fingered enthusiasts will come along on the day to have a share for their gardens.”

Around 30,600 households currently subscribe to the council’s green waste service.
