POLICE have issued a new plea to find a cyclist who pushed a 77-year-old man to the ground, causing him serious injuries.

The victim suffered a broken hip in the incident, which happened after the elderly man told cyclists not to ride on the pavement.

The incident happened just after 9am on Saturday April 19, outside the George Fry electrical store on the corner of Christchurch Road and Parkwood Road.

Police have issued CCTV pictures of the man they want to talk to.

DC Neil Third, of Bournemouth CID, said: “The victim is now out of hospital following treatment for the serious injury.

“Further enquiries show that only one cyclist was acting on his own and not a group of cyclists, as originally thought.

“The suspect is thought to have cycled away along Christchurch Road, turning right into Wolverton Road after the incident.”

The suspect is a white man who was riding a dark framed mountain bike with a back mudguard. He was wearing a grey rucksack and an olive-green hooded top with a light-coloured logo.

DC Third continued: "I urge people to consider whether this could be a friend, family member or work colleague. I also ask them to think whether they may have seen him on the Saturday morning of the incident.

“I would also like to speak to a man pulling a shopping bag and who was next to the incident as it happened.”

Witnesses should ring Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 19:119, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
