ONE of Britain’s biggest trade unions has confirmed it will return to Bournemouth for its next two annual conferences.

The Communication Workers Union will hold its 2014 and 2015 gatherings at the BIC.

The five-day conferences and exhibitions are expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates and to contribute an estimated £3.2m to the local economy. The dates are April 27 to May 1 this year and April 25-30 2015.

Tony Kearns, senior deputy general secretary the union, said: “We are thrilled to be returning to Bournemouth; the CWU annual conference has been held at the Bournemouth International Centre for many years as the location is well-received by delegates and we have built a great working relationship with the venue.”

Pat Coyne, director of venues for BH Live, the trust which runs the venue, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming CWU back to the Bournemouth International Centre. We have a dedicated team who endeavour to fulfil all the needs of our clients, which is reflected when more than one year’s dates are confirmed.”
