Bournemouth Echo: Police Commissioner presented award for work with residents Police Commissioner presented award for work with residents

DORSET’S Police and Crime Commissioner has been presented with an award for his work with residents.

As reported in the Echo, earlier this month Martyn Underhill was named winner of the Community Engagement award from Comparing PCCs (CoPaCC).

The CoPaCC is an organisation set up to scrutinise the performance of police commissioners in England and Wales This afternoon, chief executive Bernard Rix handed over the award.

He said: “What is particularly impressive is that Dorset’s Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is one of the smallest teams in the country.

“It is an indication that with the right team, it is possible to achieve great things.

“This award is about recognising quality, drive and dedication.”

PCC Martyn Underhill said: “Not only have been awarded Gold for our engagement, we were also highly commended in the CoPaCC transparency awards last year.

“This is a remarkable achievement for my office. I would like to thank my team, advocates and volunteers for all their hard work.”

It seems to me that Martyn Underhill is simply doing the job he is paid to do'meanwhile Police stations are threatened with closure.

But what exactly is that very well paid job? Because all many of us see is someone heading a self interested, expensive and unnecessary Police public relations team that spends all it's working time doing basically nothing but spin to the media to justify it's own pointless existence!

And......meanwhile Police Stations are likely to close!

Such as having your picture in the paper yet again, with an award which comes from your peer group. Maybe you can afford to crow when the public award you one.
