A DISTRAUGHT couple are appealing for help from shoppers in Christchurch after a treasured wedding ring was lost in the town.

John Smith, from Tuckton, went to the High Street on Good Friday morning, parking outside Kelly’s Kitchen and walking up to the 99p Shop, when he realised the ring was no longer on his finger.

The 78-year-old, who has suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for the last 11 years, is particularly upset as he will celebrate his golden wedding anniversary with wife Eileen, 77, in September. Eileen said she had called both Kelly’s Kitchen and the 99p Shop, as well as the tourist information centre in Christchurch, but no one had handed the ring in.

She also called the police, but was told to wait about a week for news.

Eileen said she hoped if someone had found the ring and realised how special it was they would hand it in.

The couple were married in Wareham in 1964.

Anyone who can help should call John and Eileen on 01202 421565.
