A BOURNEMOUTH man was arrested after ploughing his car into a tree this afternoon.

The 25-year-old is helping officers with their enquiries after an alleged fail to stop incident, police have said.

A man who witnessed the collision while travelling in his girlfriend's car said the driver appeared to be unhurt, and got out of the car to stand at the side of the road afterwards.

Traffic officers were already sat at the roundabout nearby.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: “At about 2.30pm on Wednesday, April 16, a vehicle failed to stop for officers in the Purewell Roundabout area of Christchurch.

“It was pursued, and collided with a tree on the A35 Christchurch Bypass.

“A 25-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested in connection and is helping officers with their enquiries.”
