A THREATENED vote of no confidence in the leader of the Conservative group on Poole Council did not materialise.
Cllr Elaine Atkinson believed she would face a challenge to her leadership at the meeting of the 19 Tory councillors on Monday night.
Group secretary Cllr Judy Butt told the Daily Echo that a vote of no confidence in council leader, Cllr Atkinson, had “been called by several Conservatives”.
However Cllr Ann Stribley, who has served as group leader said after the well attended group meeting: “I am extremely pleased to report that there was neither proposer nor seconder for the rumoured vote of no confidence, nor did anyone make any move to speak on the subject.”
Cllr Atkinson told the group she intended to step down as group leader at the annual general meeting in May. And she intends to remain leader of the council.
