EXPLOSIVES experts were called after an object was washed up on a Dorset beach.
An off-duty coastguard reported finding a ‘small piece of ordnance’ just after 9am yesterday near the Durdle Door Holiday Park.
The matter was passed by coastguards to Dorset Police who alerted the naval explosive ordnance disposal team.
The team found the item to be inert, meaning it does not contain explosive material.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: “We attended the scene after being informed by coastguards that someone had found an ordnance-shaped object.
“It was examined by the explosives disposal team, who stated that it was inert. The team then took the object away.”
