THE police are liaising with the Romanian Consulate in an attempt to identify the critically-injured victim of an alleged hit-and-run in Christ-church last week.

A man was found with ‘serious head injuries’ at around 12pm on Dudmoor Farm Road on Monday, March 31.

A police spokesperson said the casualty was still in a critical condition at Southampton General Hospital and that his identity was yet to be confirmed.

She added: “We believe him to be a Romanian national and are speaking to the Romanian Consulate to try to confirm his identity.”

A joint investigation is being conducted by Poole traffic officers and detectives from Bournemouth CID to establish how the man obtained his injuries.
