WORK to upgrade traffic signals at a busy Poole junction is due to start on Monday, April 14, and is likely to cause peak time congestion.

The £100,000 scheme at the Wimborne Road junction with Dorchester Road and Vicarage Road includes the replacement of the current signals, which have come to the end of their working life.

During the refurbishment, which is due to be completed by June 6, temporary signals will be used.

They are likely to cause delays at peak times and Borough of Poole is encouraging motorists to use other routes.

Councillor Ian Potter, cabinet portfolio holder for transport, Borough of Poole, said: “It is important that we upgrade these signals and provide additional enhancements at this busy junction which will benefit all road users. We have programmed the works in a way which is least disruptive to motorists.

“We would like to thank local residents and road users in advance for their understanding and patience while these improvement works are carried out.”
