A MAN who is believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run in Christchurch remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Yesterday a spokesman from Dorset Police said the casualty, who was found with serious head injuries at Dudmoor Farm Road on Monday afternoon, remains in an induced coma at the specialist neurological department at Southampton General Hospital.

Police have been unable to confirm the identity of the casualty but believe he is in his forties and of no fixed abode. His next of kin have not yet been informed.

The man was found in the road at around noon on Monday afternoon. Police say it is not yet clear how he sustained his injuries.

A joint investigation is being conducted by Poole traffic officers and detectives from Bournemouth CID.

Anyone who saw anything in the area of Dudmoor Farm Road, pictured, or Marsh Lane in Christchurch is asked to contact Dorset Police.
