A DAILY Echo reporter has been named in a prestigious list of top journalists who use social media in the UK.

Caitlin Marsh has made it onto Press Gazette’s Top 50 List of the Best Reporters Working on Twitter and Social Media in UK Journalism, which is one of four categories in the Social Media Journalism Awards.

Votes were compiled for the list by public votes and an expert panel who nominated their favourite reporter by voting on Twitter or by heading to the Press Gazette website.

Dominic Ponsford, Editor of the Press Gazette, said on their website: “To say that social media has become incredibly important for all journalists has become a statement of the blindingly obvious.”

He added that these awards seek to promote and highlight the journalists who are the best at using these comparatively new digital tools.

The other categories for the Social Media Journalism Awards are Most Influential Journalist on Social Media, Best News Organisation for Breaking News on Social Media, and Best Journalist/News Organisation to follow on Social Media.

The top 10 social media reporters and overall winner will be announced on Tuesday, April 8, at the Press Gazette’s head office in London.
