A FUNERAL for tragic Bournemouth University student Tayla Woodard will take place in her home town tomorrow.

The 20-year-old died suddenly in the early hours of Sunday, March 9 after collapsing at her boyfriend’s home in South London.

Her death is being treated as unexplained by the Metropolitan Police.

Tayla and her boyfriend, fellow BU student Alex Rickett, had attended a performance by band All Time Low at Brixton Academy the night before her death.

After returning to Mr Rickett’s home in Worcester Park, the student collapsed, and ambulance crews arrived shortly before 5am to a report of a woman falling violently ill.

Tayla was taken to hospital, where she died at 6.22am.

Mr Rickett, 21, was also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, although he was later discharged.

A post-mortem result failed to reveal the cause of the budding journalist’s death, and further toxicology tests are ongoing.

However, police say her death is not being treated as suspicious, and no arrests have been made.

A funeral will take place at Egloshayle Parish Church in Tayla’s home town of Wadebridge in Cornwall at 2pm today.

It is thought that there will not be any hymns, and instead the young woman’s favourite songs will be played to the hundreds of mourners expected to attend.

Tayla was in the final year of a multimedia journalism degree, and had plans to move to London after her graduation.

She wrote regular articles for Bournemouth independent newspaper the Rock, and had ambitions to be a showbiz reporter.

The family has requested that donations in lieu of flowers are given to MIND, as Tayla had been working on a major project about the lack of support for young people with depression in the UK at the time of her death.
