AN innocent man was hit on the back of the head by a knife-wielding offender in an unprovoked attack in Boscombe.

The 45-year-old victim was walking past three men who were in the middle of a disagreement when he was attacked in Aylesbury Road.

Now police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which took place between 9.45pm and 10.05pm on Sunday March 9.

The man fell to the ground and suffered concussion and a small cut.

The offenders are all described as white men in the twenties, one was muscular with a bald head and another may have been wearing a blue baseball cap.

“The victim is fortunate that his injuries were not more serious” said DC Elizabeth Horrex of Bournemouth police.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the offence or saw the described men in the area around the time of the attack.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 9:453 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
