TIME is running out for aspiring beauty pageant contestants to enter this year’s Miss Dorset competition.

The closing date to enter is tomorrow and organisers are hoping they can attract more young women to compete.

The winner will qualify for the Miss England competition, which in turn leads to the Miss World finals and a possible $100,000 prize.

Reigning Miss Dorset Emily Kishere said winning the title has opened the door to a wealth of new opportunities and would encourage others to enter. “Personally entering beauty pageants has always been to boost my confidence, meet new people and to put on a sparkly dress and perform, because what girl doesn't love to feel like a princess,” she added.

“Having the amazing opportunity to represent Dorset in the Miss England finals has been one of the most incredible moments this year. Being on stage in front of a crowd performing in dances was so much fun!”

All the contestants of Miss Dorset will be helping to raise funds for charities Beauty with a Purpose and Julia’s House, which benefits disadvantaged children throughout the UK.

Scissors Hair will be helping style the finalists on the night and the winner will be handed a one-year contract with LMP Model Boutique and debut on the runway at the south coast fashion week.

Organisers said they are not only looking for photogenic women with an attractive face and figure, but also good communication skills, confidence and charm.

The final is being held at the Print Room, Richmond Hill, on May 4, and will be hosted by former Miss England Jackie Turner, who won the Miss Bournemouth competition in 2003.

Jackie said: “I’m looking for a girl from Dorset who can walk in the same shoes as me and hopefully go on to Miss England and maybe even Miss World. I'd like to develop her and help her career grow like mine.”
