Bournemouth Echo: Tragic Bournemouth Uni student Tayla Woodard 'one of two' youngsters to be rushed to hospital before her death Tragic Bournemouth Uni student Tayla Woodard 'one of two' youngsters to be rushed to hospital before her death

A BOURNEMOUTH University student who died at the weekend was one of two youngsters rushed to hospital by ambulance crews.

Tayla Woodard, who was just 20, was taken ill at a house in Worcester Park in southwest London in the early hours of Sunday, March 9.

A 20-year-old male from the same address was also taken to hospital as a precaution that morning, but has since been discharged.

A post-mortem into the aspiring journalist's death has not yet established a cause of death.

The property is believed to belong to the Rickett family - dad Michael, mum Susan and brothers Tim, Alex and Ben, a professional golf coach living in the US.

Neighbours have suggested Tayla, who is originally from Wadebridge in Cornwall, was a friend of one of the two brothers still living in the property.

She leaves parents Julia and Russell, brother Sam and sister Jodie.

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 5.50am on Sunday to reports of a young woman taken ill at a residential address.

“The woman, aged 20, was taken to a south London hospital, where she died at 6.22am.

“A post-mortem examination took place on Monday. No cause was given and we await the results of further tests.

“The death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.”

No arrests have yet been made.

Friends, including colleagues at student union The Old Fire Station, have paid tribute to Tayla.

A statement released by the university's student union reads: “To everyone know knew her, Tayla lit up the room with her warm, energetic personality, and she will be sorely missed.

“She was a valued member of The Old Fire Station team and we speak for everyone at SUBU when we say her loss has left officers, staff and student colleagues grieving for her memory.

"The tributes pouring in via social media are a testament to her amazing character and the lives she has touched.

"Tayla will continue to live on in our hearts, for she may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.

"We offer our sincerest condolences, and our thoughts go out family, friends and colleagues of Tayla in this very difficult time.”

I believe it is better not to speculate at this moment in time, will only add another blow to the distressed relatives.

I would agree it is considerate for he family and friends not to speculate at this difficult time. Whatever the cause, it is such a tragedy at such a young age. RIP pretty lady x

I suspect that they want to know as well. But you are right it is wrong to speculate as the autopsy will reveal all.

Tragic to lose a daughter or son, my condolences to the family. Huey don't jump to conclusions. The story reports 'A 20 year old male from the same address was taken to hospital as a precaution'. It could easily be carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty gas appliance. Do not assume all youngsters take drugs.
