A VETERAN dog owner has been celebrating after her six-year-old miniature long haired daschund scooped a prize.
Penny Young, of Fordingbridge, has entered dogs into Crufts for the last three decades, with pooch Hendrix being her first ever winner in the best of breed category.
The 67-year-old said Hendrix thoroughly deserved the prize after performing so well in front of a large crowd for the annual dog competition.
“Hendrix is a top dog, he has a lovely temperament and gets on really well with my other dogs,” she added.
There was success for other pets in the area too, with Sue Ergris, from Poole, winning best of breed with miniature smooth haired daschund April, and Jean Sharp-Bale, of Ringwood, collecting a prize for her dog Plumley.
