THE future of a prominent Bournemouth pub is being reviewed, months after it closed with no warning.

Pub company Enterprise Inns obtained vacant possession of the Ensbury Park Hotel last week and said it was now deciding what to do with the property.

The pub, which stands on the corner of Columbia Road and Boundary Road, shut suddenly at the end of last year when the landlord decided to cease trading.

In the past week or so, the windows and doors have been boarded up and made secure.

The pub is a listed building but that would not necessarily stop it from being redeveloped.

The pub occupies a large plot and the site next to it is being redeveloped.

No planning application has yet been submitted for the site and a spokesperson for Enterprise Inns said only: “We can confirm that the Ensbury Park Hotel has now reverted to Enter-prise and we are currently reviewing our options for the future of the property.”

The pub is in the Wallis-down and Winton West ward but is adjacent to Redhill Common.

Cllr Sue Levell, who represents Redhill and Northbourne, said: “As a councillor for a neighbouring ward, residents have contacted me regarding the pub, especially since the silver boards have gone up.

“It hasn’t been looked upon favourably for some time and residents are anxious to know what’s going to happen to the building, which I believe is listed.
