TRAFFIC is able to flow freely again on Blandford Road, following the completion of sewerage works yesterday.

The sewer, which burst on Sunday, February 2, ran under two lanes of the B3068 which meant that a full road closure was required to complete the work safely.

Wessex Water said staff worked 24 hours-a-day to complete the repair works, which experienced delays due to the need for another utility company to move high-pressurised gas mains.

Andy Gale, Wessex Water’s sewerage manager who oversaw the repairs, said: “We understand how frustrating this road closure has been to local people and we would like to thank them for their patience.

“It was a difficult repair to complete and we are grateful to people for letting us get on with it.”

Throughout the scheme, Wessex Water worked closely with Borough of Poole Council to plan traffic management and suitable diversion routes.

The firm also set up a free text messaging service for around 500 local people who had signed up to the service and provided regular updates on the progress of the work.
