BOURNEMOUTH Athletic Club's Steve Way and Jon Sharkey have been selected to represent England in the Anglo-Celtic 100km Plate at Gravesend on May 3.
The competition doubles up as the National 100km Championships.
Way was the world's fastest 100km runner in 2013, winning the Stockholm 100km in August.
Inspired by Way, Sharkey took up the 100km challenge but needed a qualifying time to be considered for the England team.
Without much time to train specifically, Sharkey ran the 50km element of the Newcastle Racecourse Marathon on December 8 and ran a disciplined 3:19:21 to get within the 3:22:00 qualifying time.
