SEASON armbands are on sale as Poole’s weekly bike nights get ready to roar back into town.

The BLD Dream Machines event on Poole Quay starts again on April 1 for its 27-week season and bikers can now buy their armbands, which entitle them to entry each week for a one-off £7.50 – a big saving on the otherwise £1-a-week entry fee.

They can be bought in advance, or on the nights themselves after paying the £1 charge to get in.

The event returns for the new season with the support of new sponsor BLD.

Organised by Poole Tourism, the event is part of Wave 105 Summertime In The South and offers a chance for bikers and spectators to enjoy a relaxed evening on Poole Quay.

Charges cover the running costs of the event, with any additional income donated to charities nominated by the event’s volunteer marshals.

Charities benefiting from donations over the years include the Youth Cancer Trust, the National Association for Bikers with a Disability and CHAOS, a Dorset based charity that supports families of children with disabilities.

Anne Simpson, Poole Tourism special event manager, said: “On the final night of 2013, the event marshals donated £3,800 on behalf of the event to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Charity.

“This year will see 27 weeks of Dream Machines, so pick up your armband in advance, come and enjoy a great atmosphere and help to raise money for local charities.”

Bikes at the event enter a weekly Bike of the Night competition and weekly winners are invited to return for the prestigious Bike of the Year competition on the final night of the season, September 30, with the winner taking home prizes plus the coveted Midge Holloway Trophy.

Armbands are available from Poole Welcome Centre, Poole Quay.
