Police investigating a knifepoint raid at a betting shop have released CCTV images in the hunt for the robber.

The incident happened at 6.50pm on Wednesday at the Ladbrokes shop in Penn Court, West Moors.

A man brandishing a knife burst in and demanded cash from a female member of staff.

He was handed a quantity of cash before leaving.

It is thought that the woman, who was not injured, was working alone in the bookmaker’s, which had no customers inside when the robber struck.

Detective Constable James Lees, of Eastern CID, said: “I urge the man pictured – and anyone who recognises him – to contact me, in confidence, as soon as possible.

“I also would like to hear from anyone who saw this man enter or leave the premises around the time of the incident.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting crime number 26:423. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
