TV comedian Russell Howard has been appearing across Dorset after asking his fans for suggestions of places to visit around the county.

The star, who performed three sell-out shows at the BIC at the weekend as part of his Wonderbox tour, took to social media site Twitter to ask residents where he should go in Dorset.

After the Tweet was sent, the star of Russell Howard’s Good News, who also features as a panellist on Mock the Week, cropped up in different places across Bournemouth and Poole.

Mike Coombes met Mr Howard who visited Fitness First in Poole on Saturday to keep fit ahead of the second night of his tour.

The fitness instructor said: “He came in about 1pm and paid for the pass, then we just kept an eye on him, in case he needed any help with the equipment, because the place has just been fully refurbished.

Mike added: “When he was leaving, we just asked if we could have a picture and he was just really sound about it, and so down to earth.”

As well as Howard heading to the gym, he also was met by fans near Bournemouth seafront, at a restaurant in Poole, and cropped up at The Ink Bar, on Richmond Hill.

Emmie Peake, 30 from Oxford, said that she Tweeted the comedian with the suggestion of going to the popular bar, based in a former part of the Daily Echo’s offices, after visiting the town many times.

She added: “My husband, Richard, 40, and I were just buying a drink at the bar, when we turned around to see Russell stood behind us.

“It was quite amazing that I had made the suggestion and there he was.

“I asked for a photo and he made a remark on my phone case, which features a picture of a pug, and said that a couple of his jokes featured pugs within his show, which we saw later in the evening.”
