THE RNLI has launched a recruitment campaign to find new lifeguards for the beaches of Dorset ahead of the summer.

In partnership with local councils, the charity will once again provide cover on 21 beaches across the county during the summer, including Poole, Bournemouth and Christ-church.

Ninety-five per cent of a lifeguard’s role is preventative, with life-guards offering beach-goers helpful advice, including tide times and any potential hazards to avoid, ensuring that everybody has a safe and enjoyable day at the beach.

The charity said that lifeguards enjoy competi-tive pay and recruitment includes training.

Barry Heathfield, Lifeguard Manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for somebody looking for exciting and rewarding work during the summer.

He added: “Although it’s physically demanding work, all lifeguards receive significant training and support, which leaves them with fantastic skills in areas like first aid.”

Anyone aged 16 and over, who has a valid lifeguard qualification is invited to apply, including those who have previously worked as a beach lifeguard with the RNLI.

Those that do not have a valid qualification can attend courses which run in Bournemouth from April 7 to 13, for a community rate of £80 and for more info- rmation on this, email james.oxley @bournemouth.gov.uk For more information, visit the website jobs.rnli.org/lifeguards
