BOURNEMOUTH council’s cabinet has recommended a small reduction in council tax, which will mean frozen bills for the fourth year running.
Cabinet members agreed to support a 0.4 per cent reduction in the council’s share of the council tax, which will absorb increases by Dorset Police and Dorset Fire.
Adult social care and children’s social care will account for 64 per cent of the council’s budget in 2014/15, while extra investment will also be put into tackling anti-social behaviour, fixing potholes and helping businesses weather the economic downturn.
Capital funds will also be made available for improving Pier Approach and creating a town centre bus hub, while work on converting Boscombe bedsits into flats will continue. The budget and council tax proposals will now go to full council next Tuesday.
