HOT on the heels of becoming the best newspaper in London and the South, the Daily Echo has been shortlisted for another prestigious award.

The Bournemouth-based title is the current EDF Energy London and the South Newspaper of the Year and is now vying to add to that, having been nominated for Regional Daily Newspaper of the Year at the 2014 Fujifilm Newspaper Awards.

Its sister title, the Weymouth-based Dorset Echo, has also been nominated.

Group Editor of the Daily Echo and Dorset Echo, Toby Granville, said: “I’m delighted that the talents and efforts of our exceptional, hard-working teams in Bournemouth and Weymouth have been recognised by the newspaper industry once again with both the Daily Echo and Dorset Echo being shortlisted for this prestigious award.”

The pair are the only two titles from the Newsquest group to be shortlisted and they will go up against the Cambridge News, Gloucester Citizen, News & Star, The Herald (Plymouth) and The Journal.

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at the London Hilton on April 1.
