TWO people were injured in an alleged assault in Bournemouth town centre.

Police are appealing for information about the incident and about another assault which is thought to have happened earlier the same night.

A 19-year-old Poole man and an 18-year-old man from Wiltshire suffered minor injuries after allegedly being attacked by three men outside WHSmith in Old Christchurch Road at around 4.30am on Sunday February 2. Police have only just released information about the incident.

Investigations Officer Keith Cutler, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We also had a report that another assault on two men took place on Old Christchurch Road just before this incident.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to contact Dorset Police, in confidence, as soon as possible as there were a few people in the area at the time of the incidents.

“In particular, I am keen to talk to a man and a woman who may have witnessed what had already happened in the earlier incident. I believe this alleged assault also involved a man described as in his 20s, approximately 6ft tall, wearing a black T-shirt and dark coloured trousers or jeans.”

A 21-year-old man and two 19-year-old men, all from Bournemouth, were arrested on suspicion of assault. One of the 19-year-old men was released with a caution and the other two men have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 2:105, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
