VANDALS caused £20,000 worth of damage to pedestrian crossings in Bournemouth.

Now police have appealed for help in identifying five men captured on CCTV near the scene of the crime.

The incident took place at the dual pedestrian crossing on Holdenhurst Road, next to the Texaco garage and Bournemouth train station at 5.25am on New Year’s Day.

The pedestrian crossing control box was forced open and the electrics were exposed where further damage was caused.

Sergeant Gary Coulsby, of Bournemouth police, said: “Following extensive enquiries, I am now able to release three CCTV images of five people who I am keen to speak with as I believe they could help us with our investigation.

“I would also like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident take place or may have details about those responsible.”

Police have released three high-quality images showing the men, dressed in casual clothing. One even appears to be pointing at the CCTV camera.

No arrests have been made.
