A BUSINESS which grew from a small window-fitting company to become one of the south’s biggest manufacturers in its field is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Connaught Windows has produced enough windows and doors in its 20-year history to supply around 5,900 homes – using enough glass to cover the outside of London’s Gherkin.

The company, based in Wallisdown Road, Bournemouth, manufactures 45 different products in Dorset, using locally-extruded aluminium and PVCu profile.

Linda Witczak, director at Connaught Windows, said: “While the last few years have been challenging, with some careful, strategic planning and wise investments in machinery, we have successfully weathered the storm of the recession and in 2013 saw a 14 per cent increase in our turnover.”
