A CYCLIST was injured in a crash in Branksome this evening.

The man was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Fiesta at the Pottery Junction of the A35 with Ashley Road.

Sergeant Nikki Burt of the Poole Traffic Department said: “This is a collision involving a car and a male on a pushbike.

“The man has gone to hospital. Currently, the only confirmed injury he has is a broken arm, but there are a number of other injuries, and it's too early to say whether he has been badly hurt.”

The A35 Poole Road is currently closed between the John Lewis roundabout and the end of Ashley Road, causing congestion on the A338 Wessex Way, The Avenue and westbound to North Lodge Road.

Sgt Burt said: “We'd appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to call us on 101.”

Two ambulances attended the scene, one to take the cyclist to Poole General Hospital, and a second to treat the female driver of the Fiesta for shock.
