AN ELDERLY woman who suffered serious head and shoulder injuries in a crash on Friday is in a ‘critical but stable’ condition.

The 85-year-old pedestrian was crossing Palmerston Road outside Aldi in Boscombe when she was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Corsa.

Although it was initially believed that she had escaped with minor injuries, later that day Dorset Police confirmed that she had suffered ‘serious’ trauma in the collision.

Yesterday a spokesman from the force said: “There is no new update.

“Currently, the latest information that we have is that the lady is in a critical but stable condition.”

The woman was involved in a collision with a car, registered to a woman from Bournemouth, which had been turning out of the store’s car park just before the collision.

Although the woman’s injuries were initially not thought to be life-threatening, police have now confirmed that she is in a ‘critical’ condition at Poole General Hospital.

Palmerston Road was closed between the Crescent and BP Petrol station for more than an hour, although vehicles were allowed to leave the Aldi car park.
