RAIL passengers in the area are facing delays this evening after a person was hit by a train.

Passengers are facing delays of up to an hour following the incident at Winchester.

British Transport Police are currently at the scene with Hampshire Constabulary in assistance.

The condition of the person struck by the train is not known.

The incident is affecting South West Trains between London Waterloo and Weymouth.

It is also affecting CrossCountry trains between Birmingham New Street and Bournemouth.

Delays are expected to continue until around 8pm.
