POPULAR television chef James Martin will be the star attraction when a major new show for over-50s opens in Bournemouth next month.

The Life Begins 50+ Show will open at the BIC on Sunday, March 23, featuring a wide range of demonstrations, activities, products and inspirational guest speakers.

The main celebrity chef will be James Martin, the popular host of BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen. James will be doing three 45-minute cooking demonstrations in front of a live audience and afterwards will be undertaking free book signings and fielding questions from the audience.

The cooking demonstrations will cover subjects including inventive cooking for two, how to create the ultimate dinner party menu and creating delicious food on a tight budget.

During one of the live cooking sessions, James will be accompanied by the winner of the 2014 amateur 50+ chef of the year competition, which is running in conjunction with and supported by the Bournemouth Accommodation and Hoteliers’ Association.

Brian Case, the co-organiser of the Daily Echo-backed show, said: “We’re delighted to have James Martin join us for the day and we know he will be a big hit with our visitors on the day.

“His popularity is without question and we are already receiving a lot of excited interest from exhibitors and visitors since James has been announced.”

The Life Begins 50+ show will see the BIC’s Purbeck Hall split into five themed zones, including a health zone, learning zone, leisure zone, finance and law zone and homes and property zone. There will also be a climbing wall, bouncy castle and Zumba sessions.
