YOUNGSTERS at Talbot House School will be guest editing a magazine celebrating the achievements of young people this Summer.

Eduzine director Gareth Jones visited the school on Friday last week to talk to the pupils, aged six to ten, who will be gathering stories for the charity magazine’s June edition.

Over the next few months they will be looking for inspirational young people from the local area and further afield to showcase their achievements.

Mr Jones said it was the first time the Hampshire-based charity had got schoolchildren directly involved in putting together the magazine.

“It made sense to get young people involved in producing Eduzine, which is a magazine for young people, about young people,” he said.

“There was a real buzz today, which was about giving them the brief and seeing what ideas they had, and what areas they were particularly interested in.

“They will be spending some time each week looking for articles and we will see where we are in May.”

The school’s head of music and drama, Liam Morgan, said they were very pleased to be involved with the magazine.

“This is a great opportunity for the pupils to become more aware of the processes involved in producing a magazine, and also of the importance of recognising other people’s significant achievements,” he said.

“We are the first school to be given this opportunity and we are delighted, and it is great to have Gareth here to get the children set up finding some really good stories.”

Eduzine is a quarterly magazine with a general focus on the Hampshire and Dorset areas, which is sold in the UK and abroad.
