ONE of Poole’s most popular summer events is gearing up for a new season.

The motorbike nights on Poole Quay run from April 1 until September 30 and for years have seen hundreds of bikers bringing all sorts of machines to the town from far and wide.

Ahead of its return, the Dream Machines event has bagged a new title sponsor in the shape of motorbike service and repair firm BLD Group.

Bruce Grant-Braham, chairman of the Poole Tourism Partnership, said: “Without the support of sponsors we would not be able to put together such a wide range of quality events in Poole.

“It is their investment that allows Poole Tourism to deliver arts events, Summer Breeze fireworks and the Folk Festival in Poole.

“Dream Machines is one of Poole’s premier events, drawing thousands of visitors each year.

“Our thanks go to BLD as we look forward to the new season and to Coles Miller Solicitors for their fantastic support and enthusiasm for the event over the last six years which has grown into one of the best weekly motorbike meets in the south.”

The event sees the quay closed to traffic, except motorbikes, and there are regularly more than 1,000 in attendance.

Each week sees a ‘bike of the night’ prize, with the winners battling it out for ‘bike of the year’ at the last event.

Stuart Dobson, BLD’s operations director, said: “Dream Machines is close to our hearts and we’ve been involved for a couple of years, providing information for riders at the event.

“BLD is run by and for bikers.

“We know how riders tick and what their needs are, so this is a great opportunity for us to support an event which means so much to them. We can’t wait for the start of the season.”
