BOURNEMOUTH Library will be celebrating the first National Music Libraries Day on Saturday, February 8, with a free programme of live music.
The event which runs from 10am to 3pm with highlights of the day including a 1940s social dance with Pavilion Dance South West, a Flashmob called ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ with Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus members; music by members of Wessex Youth Orchestra; a flute choir and entertainment by members of the Orchestra of the Bournemouth Philharmonic Society.
The monthly library music quiz will also take place on the day, with the chance to win tickets to see either a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concert, a live screening of the Bolshoi Ballet’s The Golden Age, a Bournemouth Chamber Music Society concert or taster dance classes courtesy of Pavilion Dance.
Cllr Lawrence Williams, Bournemouth’s cabinet member for tourism, leisure and culture, said: “This special music day is a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy the varied events, meet talented musicians and use the extensive music services at Bournemouth Library.”
From Saturday February 8 to 15 library users can also enjoy a two-for-one offer to borrow music CDs and music DVDs.
