And yet more heavy rain, gale force winds and flooding is predicted to hit Dorset in the next few days.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain for Bournemouth, Poole and the wider county for tomorrow and Saturday.

People have been advised to be aware of possible transport disruption, primarily due to flooding in areas which are already saturated.

Head of the AA’s flood rescue team Darron Burness said: “Met Office records have been falling almost as quickly as the rain but, unfortunately, double rainfall has spelt double-trouble for many drivers.

“We’ve had a deluge of calls from flood-stricken drivers – around 2,800 since 20 December – in what’s been one of the AA’s busiest periods for flood call-outs since our flood rescue team was formed five years ago.”

Flood warnings are in place on the Lower Frome from Dorchester to East Stoke and the Lower Frome to Wareham.

Around 20mm to 30mm of rainfall and gales has been predicted for the South West region Friday and Saturday.
