A MAJOR new show will take place in Bournemouth in March, celebrating everything life has to offer to over 50-year-olds.

The Life Begins 50+ show will be held at the BIC on March 23 and will feature demonstrations, special guests and taster sessions.

Top television chef James Martin will lead three mouth-watering cooking demonstrations throughout the day and will be available to answer questions.

Visitors will also be able to listen to expert speakers, who will advise on everything from antiques to wine-tasting, browse hundreds of exhibition stands and enjoy a Zumba class or test themselves on a climbing wall.

Fashion shows will feature the latest trends and styles and a free craft area will showcase a whole range of different hobbies. The show is aimed at active, fun-loving 50 plus people and is presented by IMS Ltd and backed by the Daily Echo.

The Purbeck Hall will be divided into five different zones – health, learning, leisure, property and finance and law.

IMS Group director Jason Harris said they had identified a strong market for a 50+ show in Bournemouth.

“The south coast is well known as being a haven for the retired and semi-retired,” he said.

“Dorset and Hampshire alone have a population of 2.5m of which a staggering 50 per cent are over the age of 45 which is well above the national average.

“It follows that this important group of people want a show that’s just for them, opening up a new world of opportunities and things to explore. For many life begins at 50, hence the name of the show.”

Tickets cost £8 and are available from lifebeginsshow.com or from the BIC.
