At the Horse and Jockey pub in Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, Barry Thompson, 52, said:  “It has been brilliant – the best I’ve seen Bournemouth play. I couldn’t get a ticket this time but I do go to nearly every home game.

"The way they’ve played today has been second to none. I hope they keep it up in the second half and come away with a 2-1 win. It’s all we can hope for.”

Lee Mountford, 32, from Bournemouth said of the game: “It has been absolutely fantastic. Everyone is loving it. It’s the best I’ve seen them play all season and I’ll be surprised if they don’t get a win.”

Cherries fans across the area have been watching the AFC Bournemouth vs Liverpool match unfurl with baited breath.

Those who weren’t lucky enough to secure tickets at the Goldsands stadium have been glued to screens in pubs and bars.

The Goat & Tricycle pub in Bournemouth’s triangle manager Daniel Jesson said:

"The atmosphere is brilliant. We’re not quite at capacity but most of the tables have been taken.

"Bournemouth have been playing well so far, and hopefully will at least equalise in the second half."

David Foster, 50, from Bournemouth said: “It’s great here. Everyone’s enjoying the football. Bournemouth should be in the lead. It was an opportunist goal. Hopefully in the second half the Cherries will come out and win this as long as they aren’t getting tired. The boys have worked hard.”

Fan James Wright, 31, from Bournemouth said: “It’s absolutely fantastic – there’s a great group of people here.

"We’re all eating, having a drink and supporting Bournemouth. It’s a shame about the result at half time  but hopefully in the second half they’ll get the result they deserve.”

1:56pm

At the Litten Tree pub in Old Christchurch Road, more than 400 people are cheering on their teams.

Liverpool fan Chris Gerdvils, manager of the Litten Tree pub in Old Christchurch Road, said: “We have about 400 people here. I am supporting both Bournemouth and Liverpool today.”

Ben Selby, 30, said: “The atmosphere is great. Cherries have played better than anyone thought. We are now all waiting for that Cherries goal.”

Matt Scott, 23, added: “We can take confidence from our first half performance for the second half. I've put £20 on the draw. So hopefully we can get a replay.”

There are about 150 people cheering on the Cherries at the Fiveways pub in Charminster Road, where the atmosphere is buzzing.

Jamie Watkins, 25, said: “It's unbelievable here. It's a shame we are 1-0 down after controlling the first half. People in pub are really getting into the spirit of things, singing songs and cheering the team on.”

James Feyfang, 28, said: “We are unlucky to be losing. The final ball has let us down. Liverpool are lucky to be in the lead. I think we will come back and win, maybe 2-1 or 3-2.”

Here are some parking tips from our essential guide to today's game

PARKING

The club are urging people arriving by car to be considerate to local residents and adhere to “obvious” parking restrictions.

They say: “Kings Park Drive has been recently yellow-lined and the council will enforce this restriction this Saturday, as it did last week.

“The south car park will have less spaces than usual due to TV crew and away supporter coach parking and is expected to be full by two hours prior to the game.”

Alternative parking includes the Sovereign Centre car park on Christchurch Road, 10mins walk from the ground.

Parking fees are £2 or £2.50 dependent on how long you stay.

The club has also secured the use of Harewood College and Avonbourne School car parks with access from Harewood Avenue.

This is open from 11am to 3.30pm and stewards will collect the parking fee of £2 per space.

People are being encouraged to car share or use public transport or get dropped off closer to the ground.

Im sure you'll provide the conference with some much needed atmosphere next season. I've heard Alfreton can be quite lovely in February

When your pathetic club who are only in their first season in The Championship can achieve Premier League status for eight seasons and compete in two FA Cup finals with a ground capacity of 20000 and still achieve attendances of 15000 plus in the 2nd division can you have make a decent comment on how you support a football club
