THOUSANDS were left disappointed at the weekend after missing out on tickets for AFCB’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool.

However, four lucky fans who didn’t manage to bag one of the golden tickets will still see the match on Saturday – while raising money for charity at the same time.

Builders’ merchants Travis Perkins will raffle off two pairs of season tickets at its branches in Bournemouth and Christchurch this week, with the winners being drawn on Thursday night.

Regional director Mike Heathman – who himself queued from 6.30am on Saturday at Dean Court, only to leave empty-handed – said: “We’ve got a number of branches in the area, and we have four season tickets that we use to take clients of ours.

“Of course, when we knew we were playing Liverpool, we were absolutely inundated with people who wanted to use the tickets. It didn’t seem fair that so many people would be left disappointed, so we’ve decided to raffle them off instead.”

Each raffle ticket will cost £5, with all funds going to charities Breast Cancer Campaign and Together for Short Lives.

Mr Heathman said: “I tried to get hold of some tickets myself.

“I was there at 6.30am on Saturday, but the queue was so long I thought there was just no point waiting. I tried my chances on the internet before the website crashed, and I had four phones ringing the ticket line, but unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any. It’s a shame but it’s just one of those things.

“There were always going to be disappointed fans who wanted to see the game at the ground.”

The raffle tickets will be on sale at Travis Perkins branches in Bournemouth and Christchurch until Thursday afternoon.
