THOUSANDS were left disappointed at the weekend after missing out on tickets for AFCB’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool.

However, four lucky fans who didn’t manage to bag one of the golden tickets will still see the match on Saturday – while raising money for charity at the same time.

Builders’ merchants Travis Perkins will raffle off two pairs of season tickets at its branches in Bournemouth and Christchurch this week, with the winners being drawn on Thursday night.

Regional director Mike Heathman – who himself queued from 6.30am on Saturday at Dean Court, only to leave empty-handed – said: “We’ve got a number of branches in the area, and we have four season tickets that we use to take clients of ours.

“Of course, when we knew we were playing Liverpool, we were absolutely inundated with people who wanted to use the tickets. It didn’t seem fair that so many people would be left disappointed, so we’ve decided to raffle them off instead.”

Each raffle ticket will cost £5, with all funds going to charities Breast Cancer Campaign and Together for Short Lives.

Mr Heathman said: “I tried to get hold of some tickets myself.

“I was there at 6.30am on Saturday, but the queue was so long I thought there was just no point waiting. I tried my chances on the internet before the website crashed, and I had four phones ringing the ticket line, but unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any. It’s a shame but it’s just one of those things.

“There were always going to be disappointed fans who wanted to see the game at the ground.”

The raffle tickets will be on sale at Travis Perkins branches in Bournemouth and Christchurch until Thursday afternoon.

Season tickets will not get you a seat at the Liverpool game!! ST holders also had to buy their seats for this game so if people are bidding for ST they may still be disappointed. It looks like the staff are holding paper tickets though so it may just be an error in the story.

Kat129 although the picture not that clear those are not just bits of paper ,do you seriously think a company as large as Travis Perkins would raffle of dodgy tickets it would not do there reputation any good at all ,seems there are plenty of ways to try and get tickets even the echo is doing its own free draw at least some good is coming out of the Travis Perkins draw with money going to charity

I'm equally confused. Having a season ticket gave priority for purchasing a ticket for the Liverpool game but on its own is worthless for this weekend. Probably just shoddy reporting in that they used the priority to buy 4 tickets but this must have been completely separate from the chaps weekend attempt to get more.

The resale of football tickets is indeed illegal.

Tickets are official and were purchased on the one to one rule on the TP Season Tickets
They are not for Re Sale (prize draw) and usual ground rules apply.
Rather than upsetting a lot of customers and satisfying just 4 we have given all our customers the chance to get to the match and at the same time look to raise as much as possible for two great charities.

Draw Tickets still available at all local branches of Travis Perkins for only £5 with draw being made late Thursday. If you are not successful you've helped in raising much charity as every £ goes straight to Breast Cancer Campaign and Together for Short Lives.

Give it a go there is a Travis Perkins somewhere close to you
