A CLIMBER in difficulty was airlifted to safety on Saturday afternoon.

The man, who was in his 40s, was stuck at the subliminal climb at Anvil Point at around 1.20pm because of the wet conditions of the rocks.

A spokesperson for Portland Coastguard said: “The climber was secured until help arrived.

“Coastguard Cliff Rescue officers were tasked and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 106 was also tasked. On scene, the helicopter airlifted the male to the cliff top, and his climbing partner, who had raised the alarm. Both climbers were fine, just cold and wet.”
