DORSET residents woke up to another wet weekend this morning after a night of downpours.

The Environment Agency has issued a yellow weather warning for rain from 4am this morning until 7pm today.

It follows a week of squalls, with roads closed once again yesterday as water levels continued to rise.

Stony Lane in Burton was closed just days after it reopened, the Avon Causeway shut once more and Derritt Lane near Sopley flooded.

Stapehill Road in Ferndown also remained closed.

A Met Office spokesperson yesterday warned residents to expect rain from around 3pm.

“Outbreaks of rain will spread into parts of southwest England and south Wales overnight, persisting for much of Saturday daytime,” he said.

“Some heavy rainfall is likely in places. Given saturated ground conditions, the public should be aware of the likelihood of localised flooding.”

However, Sunday’s forecast currently looks more optimistic, with sunshine from 9am currently on the cards.
