TWO people were cut free from their cars after a collision on a busy road this lunchtime.

The B3073 Christchurch Road was blocked between the Hurn Bridge roundabout and the A338 Blackwater junction following the smash.

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were sent to the scene shortly after midday.

A Dorset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said two fire appliances were sent and two people were cut free by firefighters.

A police spokesman said that only minor injuries were recorded.

The crash involved a silver Mitsubishi Colt, registered to a woman from West Moors, and a silver Vauxhall Astra, registered to a Christchurch man.

The road was reopened at 2.40pm.
