A STUDENT was arrested for possession of a 19-inch kitchen knife after her housemates told police they had been threatened.

Libyan bank worker Hend June Elworfalli who is studying at Kings College in Bournemouth, admitted the offence when she appeared before the town’s magistrates.

The court was told Elworfalli, who now lives in Charminster Road, became involved in an argument with housemates at around 8am on October 18 last year. They told police she grabbed a knife, held it up towards them and made some threats before leaving the property. The offence was reported to police who traced her to Braidley Road and discovered the knife in her bag.

Defending herself, Elworfalli told the court: “I am here to study, not have an argument. A new resident and another girl worked together against me.

“They kept knocking my door and asking me to clean the bathroom.

“I asked the landlord to speak to them but nobody did anything.

“I didn’t intend to harm anybody.

“I know I made a mistake but I was worried – I threw the knife in my bag without thought.”

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £100 and a £15 victim surcharge.
