A TEENAGE beatboxer from Branksome has become an internet sensation after spontaneously performing for a reality TV star.

Zaq Dixon, 13, was invited to perform at the Scream VIP End of Term Party and Pre Xmas Ball at the O2 Academy Bournemouth, featuring star of The Only Way is Essex, Joey Essex, on Friday, December 20.

Just two weeks after he featured on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, Joey Essex asked Zaq to beatbox for him while the teen was waiting backstage to perform to the 1,800-strong crowd.

It was videoed and posted onto photo-sharing website Instagram by Joey and just 12 hours later had reached 17,000 ‘likes’.

Zaq’s proud mum, Allie, said: “Joey asked Zaq to do a special beatboxing performance just for him, which was videoed on his phone, and it has just gone viral.”

She added: “Joey Essex is quite lovely and was very nice to Zaq, who just took it all in his stride.

“In the past, Zaq has met Ed Sheeran and the rap and MC artist Skepta, as well as performing for Coca Cola at Thorpe Park and being flown out to Majorca and The Gambia.

“He is too young to take part in the UK Beatboxing Championships, but was invited to come and watch as they listed him as one of the top 15 beatboxers in the country despite his age.

“Zaq has always been interested in music and used to play on the drums before he could walk.

“It’s just something that he has always wanted to do, and I’ve just told him to follow his dreams.”
