SPECIALIST licensing lawyer Jon Payne gave a presentation to the annual conference of the Association of Festival Organisers in Nottinghamshire.
His theme was ‘Paying to be Policed’ – about requirements for organisers to fund a police presence at events.
His firm, Bournemouth-based Horsey Lightly Fynn act as honorary solicitors to the Association as well as acting for event and festival organisers.
HLF provided a legal advice ‘clinic’ throughout the conference, staffed by Jon and colleague, Sandra Graham.
Queries raised included licensing, copyright issues and payment of royalties for music, song and film production, health and safety and regulatory matters, security and food law.
Sandra Graham said: “Although we are Bournemouth based, we have a widespread national client base in the events industry and provide specialist legal services to all parts of it.”
