A BUSY Wimborne road is likely to be hit by traffic problems this month as a bridge undergoes renovation work.

Dorset County Council officials will carry out protection work on Millbrook Bridge in East Street from Monday for around four weeks.

Recent assessment has shown the edge of the bridge is weak, and heavy vehicles are known to park on the footways when unloading. The works will protect the bridge by narrowing the carriageway.

Planters will also be installed.

The road is set to be closed from 8am to 4pm for a maximum of six days from January 20 while a new kerb line is installed, and a signed diversion route will be put in place.
